10:30 am "Congressional Unleashed: HCC and Man's Best Friend" Tour

Discover where the bones are buried in a new Fido-friendly tour of Historic Congressional Cemetery.  This variation of the Introductory Tour takes a walk when the grounds are open to members of our dog walking program and highlights a selection of our most famous residents, many of whom were devoted to dogs.  You’ll  learn about the origin of our famous K-9 Corps and its vital role in HCC’s transformation from endangered historic site to national historic landmark.  (Note that many dogs may enthusiastically approach visitors.  If this doesn’t wag your tail, please join us for one of our scheduled Saturday tours when dogs are not on the grounds.

11 am 3rd Annual Wiener Waddle

Calling all dachshunds! Please join us for our second annual Wiener Waddle as part of our Day of the Dog event. All dachshunds are welcome to traverse a necessarily short course with fellow short-legged souls. Pre-registration for participants is appreciated but not required (and all are welcome to spectate!). REGISTER HERE

11 am Introductory Tour

Join a Congressional Cemetery docent for an introductory guided tour of Historic Congressional Cemetery. Tours are free and no reservations are required. Please come prepared with comfortable clothing and shoes, as the tours often stray from the main paths. All tours meet at the front gate of the cemetery.

12 pm Cemetery Doga

Bring a mat and your dog to the cemetery for a fun yoga practice inspired by the dogs in our lives, who teach us to live in the moment and connect with the little things that bring us joy. This all-levels, 1-hour yoga class will include an opening meditation, poses inspired by our dogs, and some stretches and breathing exercises that challenge us to quiet our minds as the dogs pick up on the changes in our energy. Dogs on leash are welcome. Led by DC yoga instructor and K9 corps member Diane Renzulli, this class will remind us that we have so much to learn from seeing the world through a dog's perspective. RSVPs appreciated but not required, with a suggested donation of $5. REGISTER HERE
